January 2025 second coldest January in 33 years
- January 2025 was the second coldest January in Tideland territory since 1992.
- Only January 2018 surpasses it in the past 33 years.
- January 2025 required 41% more home heating than January 2024.
- It required 51% more home heating than December 2024 and 256% more home heating than November 2024.
- That translates into unusually high home heating costs for the month.
Despite this severe cold and persistent mentions in our monthly newsletter, social media posts and email blasts, only 7% of our membership has signed up for FREE high energy use alert notifications.
These notifications can immediately alert you to a problem with your HVAC system, ductwork, water heater and any number of malfunctions that could result in a high bill.
Please sign up today via the member portal or send us an email.
If you choose to sign up via the member portal we recommend these tips to determine what the amount should be set for per day:
Take your average monthly electric bill and divide it by 30 (days). For example, if your electric bills average $150 a month that would be $5. Then add 2 or 3 dollars to that so you won't be receiving an alert every single day.
You can adjust the high energy use alert trigger up or down at any time.
