New Service
Transfer of an Existing Electric Service
No more than ten (10) days prior to your desired service connection date, call Tideland at 252.943.3046 to create your membership. Be prepared to provide the following: legal name, billing address, social security number, phone number and email address. A security deposit may be required unless you would prefer to utilize our residential FlexPay service.
If the electric service is still active, the current resident/account holder will have to call Tideland to authorize the transfer of service. That should be done no sooner than 10 days prior to account transfer.
New Location Service Construction
Electric Service Requirements and Diagrams (intended for electricians)
There are three (3) parties always involved in establishing electric service at a new location:
- Tideland EMC
- NC Licensed Electrician
- County Inspector
WORK REQUEST INQUIRY
- Call Tideland at 252.943.3046 to begin a WORK REQUEST INQUIRY. Be prepared to provide the following:
- Address of proposed service. If one has not yet been assigned, please provide us with the county tax parcel identification number.
- Your name, mailing address, phone number and email address
- Meet at the proposed construction site with a Tideland staking technician who will contact you to schedule an appointment. Following the visit, our technician will prepare your construction quote, addressing any rights-of-way easements that may need to be obtained and/or any land clearing requirements.
- Once your quote has been rendered, it is good for 45 days.
WORK REQUEST CONNECT
- When ready to proceed to service constructon, call Tideland to complete your membership application. Be prepared to provide the following:
- Account holder legal name
- Billing address
- Social security number or Federal Tax ID
- Phone number
- Email address
- Security deposit (if required)
- Payment of the contribution in aid of construction (if required)
- Have your licensed electrician install the meter base in accordance with Tideland's staking sheet and service specifications.
- Request county electrical inspection.
- Upon receipt of the county electrical inspection permit and with any contigencies noted on the construction quote having been met, Tideland will schedule your location's service construction.
